Angler’s Connection Guide Service is proud to offer a broad range of quality light tackle and fly fishing trips throughout the Chesapeake Bay region. The Chesapeake is an angler’s paradise and the “Striped Bass Capital of the World.” In addition to stripers, the Bay also offers good opportunities for Bluefish, Spanish Mackeral, Redfish, and Speckled Trout.

Fish on!

Angler’s Connection offers fishing opportunities in a variety of ways, locations, and techniques. Big fish in shallow water, breaking fish on the surface, jigging offshore structure, casting to a serene shoreline, and working top-water lures over a tide rip are possible on the Bay, sometimes all in one outing! Great fishing, good humor, and a knowledgeable guide are what you get when you fish Capt. Richie Gaines and Angler’s Connection Guide Service.

Your Guide

Guiding professionally in the Chesapeake Bay region for over thirty years, I’ve earned a reputation as one of the premier light tackle and fly fishing guides on the Chesapeake. A good guide should be part fish, teacher & coach, with a bit of stand-up comic thrown in. Catching fish is certainly the primary goal, but learning and improving techniques and tactics while having fun is an added bonus when we fish together. Remember, knowledge has no value unless it is shared.

Let’s go fishing!

As a “guerrilla” guide – I follow the best fishing opportunities up and down the Chesapeake throughout the year. From shallow water fishing on the Susquehanna Flats in the spring, jigging structure in the mid-Bay, or the early winter bite on the lower reaches of the Bay, I’m there with the knowledge, equipment, and gear to guide you!

I’ve always had a passion for the outdoors and spend a great deal of time chasing fish and game on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Fishing the Chesapeake Bay region for 40+ years and my desire to share my knowledge evolved into forming Anglers’ Connection Guide Service. The best fishing gear, boats, & equipment the industry has to offer coupled with a lot of local fishing knowledge allow me to provide quality and enjoyable fishing trips for my customers.

Redfish anyone?

I’ve been fortunate to have been featured on ESPN’s North American Outdoors, OLN’s Sport Fishing Magazine, and Fishing with Roland Martin television showsI am a proud member of the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA), a founding member and President of the Chesapeake Guides Association, and served as Chairman of the Maryland Sport Fishing Advisory Commission for several years. While I have certainly benefited from working on the Bay I have also worked hard to give back to the resource and it’s fisheries.

    Hello,

My name is Dale. Jeff and I are interested in fishing two days mid-week in May. We are mainly catch and release fishermen and both have used and caught fish on fly rods, but would not consider ourselves masters. We also are not opposed to spin fishing and realize that 2 guys on a boat casting flies can be tough. We like to catch fish and would love to land a big striper or two, but having a great day on the water is the most important thing.

Please let me know what availability you have in May.
What kind of trip would you envision for us?
What are your rates and trip lengths?
    Where would we leave from?
    What lodging is nearby?

    Thanks, Dale Ziegler

      Hi Dale

My boat is set up to fish two fly anglers easily. My schedule is fairly full for May but I do have a few days left, best to give me a call if you are still interested. In May I fish out of Kent Narrows and fish in Eastern Bay. There are multiple hotels right near the launch. We typically fish 8 hours per day and catch 20-40 fish per trip at this time of the year. This is catch & release, harvest is not permitted until June 1. My rates are on the website.

Looking to fish the stripper catch and release in 2020 in the Susquehanna Flats. Do you have availability?

      Hi Tim

I do have availability in April for the Flats. That season may be cancelled pending new regulations. Would you be interested in fishing farther south in May? Same fish but they just move down the Bay.

      Richie
